Creating our own brand was an act of self-discovery.
We have two colour palettes, because of course we do, we are creatives. Our primary palette grounds the brand in sophistication with a splash of orange delight we call creamsicle. The secondary palette is more playful, created alongside our secondary logo mark. It reflects the inclusive nature of Studio Härmonē, embracing neurodivergence and 2SLGBTQIA+ identities.
Our logo began as three ovals representing our core values. We love a Venn diagram, so we explored their overlap, and the intersection became the essence of Studio Härmonē. From that droplet of connection emerged a flower, symbolizing our joy and our endless inspiration in nature.
The butterfly became our mascot, a symbol of transformation and gentle curiosity. Its long and painful metamorphosis ends in grace and flight, a reminder that beauty often follows growth and change.

Challenge:
Designing for ourselves, as a design firm, had additional pressure of knowing future clients will see visual presentation and decide if they want to work with us.
Wins:
Doing this work for ourselves was a large part of defining who Studio Härmonē is and how we want to be seen.

Design website
Challenge:
The challenge with this project was navigating photos and content. We didn't implement a CMS but these clients are great candidates for that.
Wins:
The design for Night & Day came quickly. The aesthetic and flavour were easy to find because their mission and their passions were crystal clear. This made finding the through threads smooth.
We enjoyed digging into the earthy grounded vibe of the Night & Day brand. These clients are focused on culture, meditation, movement and connectedness. It was a honour to craft their website and breath some new life into their logo.
Our initial goal was to do their website and, along the way, we discovered their values and their desire for community connections. We discovered that connection to mother nature and to each other was an essential part of their brand and of the healing process.

Design infographic
Challenge:
The logo graphic came quick but the text took a long time with many iteration. The font and text style selected was the client preference. The challenge with the poster was to come up with a design that held a lot of information but was still easy to understand. Our last version of the poster was the best version.
Wins:
This project itself was the win. It was off and on over around three years and helped women in Northern BC, living along the highway of tears, were given information on transportation options.
The goal of this project was to explore transportation options, and awareness of those options, for women experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, domestic violence in Northern BC. One of many challenges in Northern BC is a lack of public transportation. The towns are far apart and the highway is notorious for it dangers to women who hitch hike, hence the name Highway of Tears.
The project team came to us for the project's logo, report design, posters and an infographic. The work itself was beyond meaningful and the team we worked with was focused and determined.

Helping Health with Horses
This book is an anthology of stories from equine assisted learning facilitators where they observed how working with horses is profoundly healing for the facilitators and the participants. The project started with a request to produced "line drawing" illustrations based on photos take during equine assisted learning sessions. We then moved forward to creating the cover.
Challenge:
On this project our challenge came with creating the background of the cover. We wanted to spill the image from the front to the back, cross the spine and still maintain a sense of vibrancy and airiness. We also wanted the spine to catch the attention of patrons in a book store, when lined up amongst other books.
Wins:
The cover illustration came quickly and without struggle. The subject matter was moving and inspiring thus feeding the creative process.

Gratitude at Harmony Farm Rice Lake
This book is a love letter from the author to a farm, horses, lifestyle and time. The photos and words came from a place of deep gratitude. The inspiration for the illustration and the drive to get the layout just right came from the beauty of horses and the importance of practicing gratitude.
Challenge:
We had two challenges with this project. The first was the size. This book was 4 x 6. It was challenging to fit the text on the page and yet still be legible. The second was the quality of the photographs. The photos provided by the author were taken over years and, as such, were of varying quality.
Wins:
Finding the illustration of the cover was our win for this project. We went through numerous photos of the author at her farm and with her horses. In this case we chose a photo also showed the land and the lake.

Service offerings refocus
Challenge:
We designed Maura's previous site, so the challenge turned out to be starting fresh. At first we started changing aspects of the current site, but that process was cumbersome and time consuming. Instead, we gesso'd the canvas, so to speak.
Wins:
Working with Maura is always a gift. I am fortunate to know Maura quite well, personally and professionally. As such, finding her brand voice and identity was a delight.
For the new site our focus was to bring a feeling of calm for the site visitors. There is a smoothness and a fierce gentleness to how Maura does her work. Bringing this into how she is visually represented online was more play than work. The colours took inspiration from Mother Nature, We wove together colours for lavender, cedar, sage and sweet grass.

Brave Button illustrations
Challenge:
The challenge for these two projects was establishing the context in the best way for the target audience to understand how to use/install the technology.
Wins:
Illustrating the technology itself was the win. There is a satisfaction in creating images that clarify instructions and stay in alignment with the existing brand.
